The maxi!

I recently bought a caramel colored maxi skirt, a piece of clothing I now simply cannot live without. Whilst I didn't pay an arm and a leg for it (sportsgirl all the way :), you would never know it!!
In my mind, the maxi is here to stay, due to the fact that this simple long piece of material is statement-making as well as effortless.
A new trend in the way of the maxi is also emerging for this Summer season, and it is the Sheer Maxi. Pioneered by the likes of Mary-Kate Olsen and Abbey Lee Kershaw as well as fashion houses Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Chloe, the sheer maxi trend is going to see it though this summer, with the transparency showing the perfect amount of skin, but not too much.

Derek Lam Pre-Fall 2011

Bun it.

The bun has emerged as more than the cute up-do our mum's used to pull our hair into as children, now becomming the hair-do of choice for not only fashion houses everywhere, but celebrity's such as Billie Piper, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Bosworth and Jessica Alba...just to name a few.
Whether you call it the ballerina bun, top knot, chignon or high twist, we love this look, and so do trendsetters everywhere!

Emmanuelle Alt named Editor in Chief of French Vogue

Emmanuelle Alt, French Vogue's Fashion Editor, has now been named the successor to Carine Roitfeld, and will step into the position as Editor in Chief at the acclaimed fashion magazine as of February 1st 2011. This fashion chameleon has managed to create a name for herself, often being called "one of the chosen ones", mostly due to her radiating French style and unique attitude towards fashion. Not only does Alt demonstrate fashion charisma as far as the eye can see, but she is one to always be experimenting with different looks. Thus... masculine, gothic, classy and futuristic pieces find their way into her "we-want" wardrobe.

Goodluck Emmanuelle.

Blake Lively to be Purse Ambassador for Chanel

Having been on the cover of Vogue twice, said to have hair just as iconic as Rachel from friends (aka Jennifer Aniston) and having shot to startdom in one of the most popular and talked-about hit teen shows since The OC, this unique American starlet has yet again made headlines after being appointed the"official ambassador" of Chanels new Mademoiselle handbag.

Karl Lagerfeld, whom was introduced to the blonde bomshell through mutual friends and fashion heavy-weight Anna Wintour, came to admire Blake after meeting her before his couture show last July. He describes her as "a kind of American dream girl" and utterly believes that she embodies everything that Chanel has grown to respesent, that being classic, iconic, timless and forever relevant clothing.
